Moving forwards from my degree I have researched different Masters degrees but coming to the conclusion of staying on to study a Masters in Creative Practice at the University of Cumbria. Further study will allow me to develop. I am passionate and invested in improving my knowledge and personal practise in Photography and other creative areas. Studying at Brampton Road has been an enriching experience as I have had the opportunity to: work on live briefs, attend artist talks, gallery visits and collaborate with students from both my own course and others, including taking images for musical theatre students. When researching which course would be best for me to carry on my study I also looked at Edinburgh University and Leeds University. Although I did search for Photography masters I decided that I wanted to experiment and merge both my art skill and photography skills. I believe this will push me to come up with new innovative ways of working and creating interesting work that will stand out to industry professionals.
When I am working I choose to be experimental and try new techniques, I’m always up for learning new approaches. While working in the darkroom I have experimented with using liquid light to apply my pictures to objects as well as experimenting with Cyanotypes. With these processes I enjoyed the challenge of learning and applying the techniques within my work. As I develop and move forward I want my work to mix both art and photography together to create engaging work.
